Play for everyone

The room we choose as the playroom in our new house is actually 1sq foot smaller than the playroom in our old house. This didn't bother me though, even as kids seem to accumulate more stuff.

With moving a lot of books and soft toys to their bedroom I knew with good shelving space that can combine as a tv unit and boxes for the small one inch plastic tat toys the room could be turned into a cosy space that the whole family can enjoy.

When Ikea asked if I could share their new Let's Play for Change Campaign which is their partnership with UNICEF, Save the Children, Room to Read, Handicap International, Special Olympics and War Child that help children around the world play and develop, even in the most difficult situations.

Every child deserves the right to play, feel safe and interact with others. Ikea has designed a number of new products designed to enable play together and a percentage of the sales from SAGOSKATT Soft toys designed for children by children will be donated to Bernardo's UK.

For Colin and I it has always been important that the girls have an organised playroom and somewhere that we can enjoy sitting in with them. Life can be hectic enough, I like when we have some down time and playing with the kids for the place to be as organised as is realistic with two littles.

I also feel that too many toys scattered all over the place is distracting for children and they can't focus. I suppose it's like a messy work desk.

We added the HEMNES Storage Combination with doors and drawers as it was the perfect balance between storing building blocks, to displaying their little pieces of artwork and trinkets and all easily wiped clean.

Ikea has always been a firm favorite in our house as we try to work smart with storage and also on a budget, Bella got the Ikea DUKTIG play kitchen 3 years ago and it has continued to be a firm favorite, if only every dinner I was made from this by the girls was editable and every 'tend cuppa tea' was warm and drinkable but joy they get out of playing with their kitchen never wears thin.

I, and more importantly, the girls are delighted with the space that they have for play and love when Colin and I get involved to.

LUSTIGT colouring paper roll (10 meters) such an amazing idea and has been rolled out across the kitchen table too most days and MALA felt tip pen.... that I can confirm is washable however is no longer allowed on the wooden floor.
